Giant Flashlight Media

Meet Virginia Wing on March 15 for Women’s History Month virtual Q&A

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Giant Flashlight Media is proud to present an exclusive virtual Q&A event featuring Virginia Wing, a trailblazing 87-year-old Chinese American actress and singer whose remarkable career has spanned over six decades in film, television, and theater. The event will take place online on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM Eastern Time.

Moderated by Larissa Lam, award-winning filmmaker and director of the upcoming documentary Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wing?, the conversation will offer audiences an intimate look into Virginia Wing’s storied career — from appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in the 1960s, to starring in the ill-fated Broadway-bound musical Chu Chem, to her recent critical success in the Off-Broadway production of Uncle Vanya. Wing will also reflect on her upbringing in the small town of Marks, Mississippi, and the challenges she faced as an Asian American woman in the entertainment industry.

In addition to celebrating Wing’s groundbreaking career, the Q&A will also offer attendees a first look at the highly anticipated documentary Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wing?, which explores themes of stereotyping, sexism, and ageism in the entertainment industry through the eyes of Wing herself. The film, currently in production, seeks to inspire conversations around representation and inclusion in media and will highlight Wing’s perseverance in breaking down barriers for women and Asian American performers.
